Baldur Brönnimann has launched the 2011/12 season of Norway’s BIT20 Ensemble, of which he is Artistic Director. In this his first full season, the group will perform great masterworks of the post-war era, as well as new works by young and up-and-coming composers. Aimed at bringing the best of contemporary music to Bergen, Brönnimann and the ensemble will collaborate with the Grieg Academy and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. The season includes premieres of works by Iris ter Schiphorst, Philippe Leroux and Helmut Oehring. Click here to see the full season brochure.
This month Brönnimann returns to his Swiss homeland to appear at the Lucerne Festival, conducting students from the Lucerne School of Music on August 20. Brönnimann will conduct a work by the Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas (the festival’s composer-in-residence), who will talk about his compositions in this workshop-concert.
