Eric Cutler

Tenor

Hailed as one of the most promising singers of his generation, American tenor Eric Cutler has attracted the attention of the world’s major opera houses as well as gaining a notable following for both his orchestral and recital repertoire.

"Eric Cutler brings a winning combination of full-and head-voiced singing to the challenging role of Raoul. Soon after he sang his heart out in the fourth act duet with Valentine - the most popular love duet of the 19th century - he shined again in Raoul's taxing aria in Act 5."
George Loomis, New York Times, June 2011

Eric Cutler's uniquely virtuosic voice has been celebrated in the world's leading opera houses. His appearances include the Metropolitan Opera; the Paris Opera; the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich; the Salzburg Festival; the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Venice's Teatro la Fenice; Lyric Opera of Chicago; Brussels' Theatre Royal de la Monnaie; the Teatro dell'Opera, Rome; the Glyndebourne Festival; the Canadian Opera Company; Houston Grand Opera; Vlaamse Opera; Opera Australia; Santa Fe Opera; the Grand Theatre de Gevene and many others. He also performs Amenophis in Rossini's Moise et Pharaon at Carnegie Hall with the Collegiate Chorale. Future seasons will see returns to the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro Real, Madrid as well as debuts with the Berlin Staatsoper and Oper Frankfurt.

Eric Cutler specialises in the technically challenging French and Italian repertoire of the nineteenth century. He sang Amenophis in Rossini's Moise et Pharaon under the baton of Riccardo Muti at both the Salzburg Festival and the Teatro dell'Opera, Rome.
