Brett Dean is delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Elise L. Stoeger Prize for his significant contribution to chamber music composition. The prize is awarded every two years by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.
Chosen from a list of eminent musicians, composers, educators, managers and presenters in the field of composition, Dean joins the award’s distinguished list of recipients that includes Oliver Knussen, Aaron Jay Kernis, Judith Weir, Thomas Adès, Michael Daugherty and Jörg Widmann.
CMS Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han commented on the announcement:
“We could not be happier that our eminent panel of judges has selected Brett Dean as the 2010-2011 recipient of the Elise L. Stoeger Prize. We have long been admirers of his work, and we expect this honor will offer him further inspiration to add to his already-impressive and important catalogue of chamber music. He joins the award’s distinguished list of recipients who have helped further our art, and we offer him our heartfelt congratulations.”
