Colin Currie Group

Two performances in Tokyo featured special appearances by Steve Reich to perform Reich’s own Clapping Music with Colin Currie, as well as the Japanese premiere of Steve Reich’s Quartet which was written for and premiered by Colin Currie Group in 2014.

Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Tokyo 

Conducted by Colin Currie himself, the Colin Currie Group will be offering programmes featuring Reich’s Tehellim and other music by Reich.

The group will be offering a series of programmes, either with a single concert or a series of residency-style events with programmes ranging from a sextet-sized group upwards aside educational activities and master classes.

East-coast October/November 2017

The group have made Drumming their own, having performed the work across the world, including numerous performances in the presence of the composer.

This tour marks the groups return to Asia, following their highly acclaimed Asia debut in Tokyo in 2012.

Macau Cultural Centre, Macau 

As part of De Doelen's ‘Red Sofa Series’ Colin Currie Group perform four Reich works for small ensemble: Music for Pieces of Wood, Sextet, Mallet Quartet and Quartet which was written specially for Colin Currie Group.

The Group performs similar programmes in Nijmegen, Tilburg and Middleburg, but and add new repertoire at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam where they perform as part of the World Minimal Festival. Here the group tackle Terry Riley The Heaven Ladder Book 5: 1.Cinco de Mayo, George Henry Crumb’s Music for a Summer Evening as well as Reich’s Quartet.
