          MIDORI

Artist Portrait 2008

"Midori is one of the most versatile artists at the top of the profession today. From her world-class performances to her intensive music education projects, including with underprivileged young perople, Midori is a musician who demands attention.

In this 2008 LSO Artist Portrait, the London Symphony Orchestra profile the different aspects of her work through two recitals with Charles Abramovic, two concerts with conductor Daniel Harding and four exciting events with LSO Discovery, the Orchestra's education and community department: they collaborate with fellow artists, young and old, in events which include a masterclass, a video conference and a rehearsal for a new work."

Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director
London Symphony Orchestra

In what was a major, three-month long education project, Midori and the LSO worked closely with young composer Christian Mason to develop new recital work Efflorescence. The piece was workshopped privately between Midori and Mason in March, publicly in April as part of the 'Score!' day, and then performed in Midori's St Luke's recital on 8 May. Other education activities include web conferencing, talks and a masterclass with LSO String Experience violinists.
