Tension grows as the instrumental finalists are announced at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition

The tension is growing as the instrumental finalists are announced in Moscow and St Petersburg for the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition.
In the Piano category, the five competitors going through to the finals are Alexander Romanovsky (Ukraine), Seong Jin Cho (Korea), Daniil Trifonov (Russia), Yeol Eum Son (South Korea) and Alexei Chernov (Russia).
The violin line-up includes: Nigel Armstrong (USA), Sergei Dogadin (Russia), Jehye Lee (South Korea), Itamar Zorman (Israel), Eric Silberger (USA).
The cello finalists will be: Norbert Anger (Germany), Ivan Karizna (Belarus), Edgar Moro (France), Umberto Clerici (Italy) and Narek Hakhnazaryan (Armenia).
The winners will be announced this Thursday, 30 June 2011.
