La cour de Célimène, which opened the sixtieth Wexford Festival this year, has been shortlisted in the Best Opera Production category of the
Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards. Jack Gilligan, who was one of three judges on the panel, praised the impressive standard this year, saying, “We saw some fantastic shows … at the top level there was very keen competition”. The awards, which are the most prestigious in Irish theatre, select the best productions, writing, acting, directing and design seen in Ireland in 2011.
