After receiving great critical acclaim for his portrayal of Gunther last season, Iain Paterson will return to Munich to reprise this role in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung at the Bayersiche Staatsoper. This revival production by Andreas Kriegenburg will be conducted again by Kent Nagano. The cast also includes Stephen Gould as Siegfried, Nina Stemme as Brünnhilde and Hans-Peter King as Hagen.
Götterdämmerung in Munich opens on 13 January, with a subsequent performance on January 27. This production will also feature at the Munich Festival later in the year.
Later this season, Iain Paterson will also be returning to the Metropolitan Opera (as pictured) to sing Gunther as well as sing his first Forrester in The Cunning Little Vixen for Opera Bergen and first Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg with The Hallé Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder.
Paterson will also sing Fasolt at both the Staatsoper Berlin and La Scala, the latter of which will be his house debut.
