At the end of last year, James Ehnes released a recording of the two Bartók Violin Concertos and Viola Concerto for Chandos. Accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, Ehnes’s recording has received universal critical acclaim, with Gramophone naming it ‘Recording of the Month’ and challenging “any reader to name a version that is either more moving or more beautifully played."

The next release in Ehnes’s Bartók project for Chandos features Sonatas Nos.1 and 2 and Rhapsodies Nos.1 and 2, with Andrew Armstrong on the piano.

Also this month, James Ehnes will appear as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Carnegie Hall. On 14 February, Ehnes will perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in the Stern Auditorium with the orchestra’s chief conductor Charles Dutoit.
