Leonidas Kavakos returns to the Wigmore Hall on February 1 for the second recital of his 2011/12 Beethoven sonata cycle with renowned America pianist, Emanuel Ax. The duo will complete their cycle with a recital in April.
With his regular collaborator, Enrico Pace, Kavakos continues his Beethoven sonata cycles on tour in Italy: in Florence (February 5 and February 26), in Venice (February 6) and in Milan (February 7).
On February 15 Kavakos returns to London to play the Korngold Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Antonio Pappano at the Barbican Centre. Again playing the Korngold concerto, Kavakos will perform with Christoph Eschenbach and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome on February 18, 19 and 20.
Harry Eyres of the Financial Times described Kavakos’s performance of the Korngold at the BBC Proms 2010 as “playing so good that you could scarcely believe it came from a fallible human being”.
