Giancarlo Guerrero has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra’s Miami Residency. His appointment will start in the 2011/12 - the residency’s sixth season - and last for three years. The Miami Residency was created by the Cleveland Orchestra in 2007 with the aim of broadening audiences and cultivating concert attendance in the Miami area.

The Cleveland Orchestra’s Executive Director Gary Hanson called Guerrero “a visionary artistic leader who shares our passion for music and music education”.

In his capacity as Principal Guest Conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra’s Miami Residency, Giancarlo Guerrero will lead the artistic planning, shape the programme and conduct subscription concerts, as well as plan strategy for education and community outreach.

Guerrero made his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra in May 2006, an appearance that led to an immediate re-invitation to return.
