Gidon Saks performs Weber at the Opéra Comique

Gidon Saks will sing the role of Gaspard in Carl Maria von Weber’s romantic opera Le Freischütz in its French version by Hector Berlioz at Paris’s Opéra Comique. The first night is on April 7 and there are then further performances on April 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. John Eliot Gardiner will conduct his Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and Dan Jemmett directs. 

Gidon’s other recent engagements include Nick Shadow The Rake’s Progress for the Staatsoper Berlin, and Hagen Götterdämmerung in concert. In the summer he will sing Fasolt in Wagner’s Das Rheingold in concert for Venice’s La Fenice. Beyond the 10-11 season, Gidon sings the title role in Bluebeard’s Castle in France and has roles at the Theater an der Wien, the Berlin Staatsoper and with the London Symphony Orchestra.
