This month, Brett Dean was the focus of a BBC Symphony Orchestra 'Total Immersion Day' at London's Barbican Centre. The day, which included talks, concerts and a screening of Dean’s first opera Bliss, culminated in an all-Dean concert by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Robertson with a programme which included the UK premieres of Fire Music, Carlo in a new version with live choir, and Dean’s Violin Concerto, The Lost Art of Letter Writing with soloist Renaud Capuçon. Dean received universal critical acclaim with the press praising both his compositional and performing triumphs.
