Vuyani Mlinde will play the role of Maschinist in a brand new production of Janáček’s Makropulos Case at Oper Frankfurt. Vuyani has been a member of the Oper Frankfurt’s ensemble since 2010. British theatre and opera director Richard Jones will direct the production which also stars British soprano Susan Bullock as the opera’s central character, Emilia Marty. Friedemann Layer conducts. The production opens on 8th April.

Vuyani has had a busy season so far, with various roles in Frankfurt and a successful tour at Christmas 2011 of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra and John Eliot Gardiner. In the summer he will travel to Salzburg where he sings Haydn’s Creation, also with John Eliot Gardiner. Next season, Vuyani has two engagements at Houston Grand Opera which will also be his house debut – Colline in La Bohème and Ferrando Il Trovatore, alongside his engagements in Frankfurt.
