Dame Felicity Palmer and George von Bergen sing in a new production of Peter Grimes at Teatro alla Scala this month. Richard Jones directs a brand new production with an excellent line-up of fine singers and Robin Ticciati makes his conducting debut at the theatre.

As one of the leading authorities of English repertoire, Palmer sang Mrs Sedley in David Alden’s award-winning Peter Grimes at the English National Opera (a concert version will be performed this summer at the BBC Proms) and most recently became the diction coach of Hänsel und Gretel at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, where she will return in autumn for the coaching of Thomas Adès’s The Tempest.

Baritone George von Bergen makes his La Scala debut singing Ned Keene. Von Bergen last performed the role in Willy Decker’s acclaimed production for the Teatro Regio in Turin. Upon his return to London, George will make his role debut as Ford in a new production of Falstaff at Opera Holland Park. Next season, von Bergen will become an ENO Harewood Artist.
