Joyce DiDonato has been awarded the Premio Franco Abbiati for Best Singer 2011. This highly prestigious prize is bestowed by the Italian National Association of Music Critics. Previous winners include Marilyn Horne, Renata Scotto, Mirella Freni, Editha Gruberova and June Anderson.
DiDonato was honoured for her roles at La Scala as Octavian Der Rosenkavalier and Elena La Donna del Lago. Her performances garnered critical acclaim:
