Iain Paterson makes his debut at Bayerische Staatsoper this week as Gunther in a new production of Götterdämmerung by Andreas Kriegenburg and conducted by Kent Nagano.
Paterson’s outstanding performances as Gunther have led to critical acclaim, including his most recent appearance in Robert Lepage’s new Ring Cycle at the Metropolitan Opera.
“As Gunther, leader of the Gibichungs, baritone Iain Paterson sang strongly and moved convincingly from bravado to self-loathing.”
San Francisco Chronicle, January 2012
Götterdämmerung in Munich opens on 30 June, with subsequent performances on 8 and 15 July, as part of the two complete Ring Cycles during the Munich Opera Festival.
