On 10 September, Brett Dean will conduct the world premiere of his latest work Electric Preludes, for chamber orchestra and 6-stringed solo electric violin. The work was commissioned for the Australian Chamber Orchestra and their leader Richard Tognetti, who is also soloist in the work, and for Festival Maribor by Jan Minchin.

In the same programme, Dean will also conduct his own work Carlo as well as performing his solo viola work Intimate Decisions. Later in the festival, he joins members of the Maribor Festival Orchestra for chamber music concerts as well as Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with both the Maribor Festival Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra at the closing concert of the festival.
