Gilbert Varga makes his debut with Houston Symphony Orchestra

Gilbert Varga returns to the US in October for his debut with Houston Symphony Orchestra in a programme of Haydn and Ravel (October 20). Opening with Haydn’s Symphony No.49 'La Passione', he is then joined by Daniel Müller-Schott for Haydn’s second cello concerto. In the second half he conducts Ravel’s La Mere, L’Oye and La Valse.

The previous week he returns to Indianapolis Symphony to conduct Bartók’s Miraculous Mandarin, a work that Varga has conducted to great critical acclaim worldwide. In the first half, he is joined by Jonathan Biss for Beethoven’s second piano concerto.
