On 22 October, James Ehnes joined the London Symphony Orchestra for an all-Brahms programme at the Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.
Ehnes performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Valery Gergiev in a programme that also featured Brahms’s Tragic Overture and Symphony No.2.
“Mr. Ehnes teamed with Mr. Gergiev for a spacious and calmly intense account of the Violin Concerto. Mr. Ehnes has technical brilliance to spare, but there was not a trace of flashiness in his majestic, poetic and transparent playing.”
