Amanda Echalaz has been named as one of “London's 1000 most influential people 2010” in the Evening Standard’s annual survey.

“The South African soprano caused a sensation when she took over as Tosca from an indisposed Angela Gheorghiu last year at Covent Garden” commented the Standard, “[and] more recently she starred in the role again at ENO and is now widely touted as the singer most likely to seize the Callas crown.”

Also named in the classical music category were: conductors Antonio Pappano, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Jurowski; composers Thomas Adès and Colin Matthews; and leading arts administrators Roger Wright and Sir Nicholas Kenyon.
