Marek Janowski begins major Berlin 'opera in concert' series to mark 200th anniversary of the birth of Wagner

As Artistic Director of the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin,
Marek Janowski presents a Wagner Cycle in Berlin between November 2010 and May 2013, with concert performances of Wagner’s major operas.
Janowski and the RSB Berlin will be joined by a top international cast for this series, including Matti Salminen, Nina Stemme, Albert Dohmen, Christian Elsner, Ricarda Merbeth, Robert Dean Smith and Stephen Gould. The ten concert performances of Wagner’s works will begin this month, on 13 November, with
Der Fliegende Holländer. The series will also include
Lohengrin,
Tristan und Isolde,
Tannhäuser and a performance of the complete opera tetralogy
Der Ring des Nibelungen during the 2012/13 season, marking the highpoint of the series in honour of Richard Wagner’s 200th birthday.
