Gilbert Varga returns to the Gürzenich Orchestra for concerts on 7, 8 and 9 November to conduct music from his native Hungary: Veress’s Threnos "in memoriam Béla Bartók”, and Bartók’s fiery Miraculous Mandarin. In the first half he is joined by Anna Vinnitskaya in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1. Earlier this year, Varga and Vinnitskaya recorded Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.2 for Naïve Records with DSO Berlin.

This month he also returns to the Basque National Symphony Orchestra, of which he is former Music Director, for several concerts with Arcadi Volodos.
