The first of these debuts will see Ehnes perform the Barber Violin Concerto on November 8 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Charles Dutoit at the Royal Festival Hall. The following week Ehnes will make his debut appearance with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, where he will give two performances of the Walton Violin Concerto with Marc Piollet at the Laeiszhalle on November 13 and 14.
On November 17, Ehnes will make his debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Walton’s Violin Concerto with Thomas Söndergaard. He then travels to Vienna where he will join the Tonkünstler Orchestra for the first time and give three performances of Barber’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Wayne Marshall.
Ehnes’ European tour will conclude at the end of the month, when he returns to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to give two performances of Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 with Andrew Manze.
