David Alden’s new production of Un Ballo in Maschera opens at the Metropolitan Opera

David Alden’s new production of Un Ballo in Maschera will open at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, on November 8, starring Sondra Radvanovsky, Marcelo Álvarez and Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will conduct the production.
Verdi's opera, based on the true story of the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden in the 18th Century, will have a fresh take in the early 20th century. Click here to watch David Alden talking about his idea and vision behind the production.
Further performances of Ballo will be on November 8, 12, 19, 24, 27, 30 and December 4, 8 and 14, 2012.
Later this season, David Alden will direct a revival of Peter Grimes at Deutsch Oper Berlin, Lucia di Lammermor with the Canadian Opera Company and a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg for De Nederlandse Opera.
