Gautier Capuçon makes his London concerto debut at the Royal Festival Hall on December 14. With the Philharmonia Orchestra under Sir Roger Norrington, he plays the Elgar Cello Concerto. The 29-year-old cellist has already established himself on the world stage as one of the finest soloists of his generation. He plays regularly with the very top orchestras across the world, which this season include the LA Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and Lucerne Festival orchestras, with conductors such as Slatkin, Dutoit, Haitink, Bychkov.
In January 2011 he will return to the UK to play Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons. Following the concert in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on January 13, he will tour with the CBSO and Nelsons to France, Germany and Spain.
