Soprano Simona Mihai has received critical acclaim for her Salzburg operatic debut as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. Another Intermusica artist, Leo Hussain, conducted at the Landestheater, where he is Music Director. The production, by Nina Kühner, opened on December 5.
"Simona Mihai (Adina) gave a performance of the highest musical quality; her voice has the dark timbre of a mezzo, along with the fullness and agility of a soprano."
Salzburger Nachrichten
"Simona Mihai as Adina has a beautifully distinctive soprano voice; rich and full of colour."
Salzburger Volkszeitung
"The singers were wonderful, both vocally and theatrically. Coloratura soprano Simona Mihai was especially praiseworthy."
Dorfzeitung
"The fluffy orchestral background set Simona Mihai (Adina) off well; her voice could blossom without being forced, and there was enough space for carefully elaborated ornamentation."
