Leonidas Kavakos performs at the inauguration of the Florence’s New Opera House on New Year’s Eve

Leonidas Kavakos performs at the final concert of the inauguration of the New Opera House in Florence (Nuovo Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze) with the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under Zubin Mehta on New Year’s Eve, December 31. In this gala concert Kavakos will play Beethoven’s Romance No.2 and Ravel’s Tzigane. Florence’s New Opera House is designed by architect Paolo Desideri and celebrates the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.

Kavakos returnsto Florence in March 2012, on this occasion as guest conductor of the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, when he will conduct Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto with soloist Sol Gabetta.
