Susan Bickley will make her debut with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium (Christmas Oratorio) on December 22 and 23 in Rotterdam. Intermusica conductor Richard Egarr conducts the orchestra and soloists in Bach’s festive work. This will be Susan’s second performance of this piece this season – she also performed it with the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester in November, conducted by Juanjo Mena.

Susan’s busy season in 2011/12 includes opera contracts with Oper Frankfurt (her debut), the Berliner Staatsoper, Welsh National Opera (Brangäne) and the Buxton Festival (Storge). In addition she records for the Hyperion label, performs Elgar’s Apostles in King’s College with the Philharmonia and Bach’s St Matthew Passion in the Bach Choir’s annual performance at the Royal Festival Hall. Susan ends the season performing roles in Knussen’s Where the Wild Things Are for Aldeburgh, which tours to the US next season with performances with the LA Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel.
