Tenor Thomas Hobbs will make his debut with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on December 9 in a performance of Handel’s Messiah with the City of Birmingham Choir at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. The Choir’s annual performances of Handel’s masterpiece are highly acclaimed and hugely popular. After Christmas, Thomas makes another significant concert debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, again performing Handel’s Messiah, on 2 January 2012 at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall. Roy Goodman, currently Principal Guest Conductor of the English Chamber Orchestra will conduct the performance, which is again an annual and much-anticipated event.
Thomas’s busy concert schedule has already taken him this year across Europe and in 2012 his diary includes further concerts in Europe and in the US performing a diverse range of repertoire. Other highlights of this season include his concert debut with Le Concert Lorrain in Germany and Denmark, Handel’s Ode on St Cecilia’s Day in Westminster Abbey for the Lufthansa Baroque Festival of Music, and the title role in Handel’s Joshua with the RIAS Kammerchor and Akademie für Alte-Musik.
