Stanisław Skrowaczewski returns to the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo to conduct its annual end-of-year concerts of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This will be a long-awaited return to the orchestra after more then ten years. There will be four concerts at NHK Hall – December 22, 23, 25, 26 – and a repeat at Suntory Hall on December 27, as well as a live broadcast on December 22 on NHK FM radio and a delayed New Year broadcast of this concert on NHK TV.

Skrowaczewski, who was Principal Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo from 2007 to 2010 and is now its Honorary Conductor Laureate, was also in Japan in October for a highly successful tour with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, performing in Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo. A favourite of Japanese audiences, Skrowaczewski will return in March 2012 for his third visit this season to conduct the Yomiuri Nippon orchestra.
