This month, Rory Macdonald will return to the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, where he will conduct two performances at Hämeenlinna and at the Sibelius Hall, Lahti.
The programme will open with Webern Passacaglia, followed by Ravel’s Piano Concerto with soloist Alexander Toradze. The concerts will close with Elgar’s Symphony No. 1.

This month, Rory Macdonald will make his Japanese debut with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. Macdonald will conduct the orchestra in two performances at the Aichi Prefectural Art Theatre in Nagoya on 20 and 21 April. The programme will open with Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel Overture, followed by Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 with soloist Hibiki Tamura. The concerts will close with Sibelius Legends.

Rory Macdonald will make his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra on Sunday 4 March.
Macdonald will conduct the orchestra at the Barbican Centre in a Shakespeare-inspired programme that will include the UK premiere of Rufus Wainwright’s Five Shakespeare Sonnets. This month sees Rory Macdonald return to the Coliseum for nine performances of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amour with English National Opera. The opening night is on Thursday 15th September, when Macdonald will be joined by a cast which includes Ben Johnson (Nemorino), Sarah Tynan (Adina) and Benedict Nelson (Belcore).

On April 14, Rory Macdonald returned to the Oulu Sinfonia in Finland with a concert at the Madetoja Concert Hall. The programme included Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite, Xenakis’ Okho and Ginastera’s Variaciones Concertantes. On April 28, Macdonald will make his debut with the Bergen Philharmonic at the Grieghallen, with a programme including extracts from various concerti with soloists who will be competing during the concert for a scholarship.
