South African baritone Jacques Imbrailo will make his debut at Houston Grand Opera on Friday 3 February, singing the role of Tarquinius in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia.
The production, which runs until February 11, is a new interpretation by director Arin Arbus and will be conducted by Intermusica’s own Rory Macdonald, who also makes his Houston Grand Opera debut.

Mezzo soprano Kai Rüütel will make her house debut at Scottish Opera on Saturday 4 February 4 as Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel in a brand new production by Bill Bankes-Jones. Henk Neven will visit the UK to give a lunchtime recital at the Perth Concert Hall, 13 February for BBC Scotland. He will be accompanied by his regular recital partner Hans Eijsackers. Hans will also be Henk’s accompanist on his second recital disc for the record label Onyx Classics, which is being recorded in early February.

Eri Nakamura will sing the role of Woglinde in a new production of Wagner’s Das Rheingold, directed by Andrea Kriegenborg and conducted by Kent Nagano, at the Bayerische Staatsoper. The premiere is on 4 February, followed by further performances on 8 and 12.

Thomas Hobbs’s engagements this February include Bach Cantatas with the Dunedin Consort, with whom he has previously recorded two critically acclaimed discs. Performances include concerts at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and in Perth. Following this, Thomas travels to Hamburg where he will perform Schubert with Hansjorg Albrecht on 18 February. Thomas has just finished recording and touring Bach cantatas with Collegium Vocale Gent in Belgium.
