This month, bass-baritone Gidon Saks sings the role of Enrico VIII in Birgit Meyer’s production of Donizetti Anna Bolena at Oper Köln. After his recent success as Kaspar in Weber's Der Freischütz at the Opéra Comique earlier this season, Gidon Saks will join force with the Monteverdi Choir and conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner once again to revive this rarely performed version by Berlioz at the BBC Proms on September 9.

After his recent success at Opéra Comique, Paris as Gaspard Les Freyschuetz, Gidon Saks returns to Teatro Le Fenice to sing Fasolt in a concert version of Das Rheingold under Jeffrey Tate. Performances dates are June 24, 26, 28, 30 & July 2. To finish this season, Gidon will appear at the BBC Proms in a concert version of Les Freyschuetz under John Eliot Gardiner.

Gidon Saks will sing the role of Gaspard in Carl Maria von Weber’s romantic opera Le Freischütz in its French version by Hector Berlioz at Paris’s Opéra Comique. The first night is on April 7 and there are then further performances on April 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. Gidon Saks returns to the Berlin Staatsoper on December 10 as the devilish Nick Shadow in a new production of Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress by Krzysztof Warlikowski. Ingo Metzmacher will conduct. The cast includes Anna Prohaska as Anne Truelove.

On 23 October 2010, Gidon Saks sings the role of Hagen in the concert version of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung with La Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under Víctor Pablo Pérez. Gidon recently sang Hagen at the Washington National Opera and La Fenice to critical acclaim.
