Iréne Theorin debuts in the title role of La Gioconda at the Gran Teatre del Liceu with Dolora Zajick
Iréne Theorin returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu to make her debut in the title role of La Gioconda. Theorin is joined for the production by Intermusica's Dolora Zajick as well as ldebrando D’Arcangelo and Brian Jagde. Guillermo Garcia Calvo condcuts Pier Luigi Pizzi's production.
Theorin’s recent highlights include an acclaimed debut as Ortrud Lohengrin at Opera Vlaanderen as well as returns to Wiener Staatsoper as Brünnhilde in The Ring Cycle and to Teatro Real in the title role Turandot. She also joined Sir Simon Rattle and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunk as Brünnhilde in concert performances of Die Walküre. Further appearances include Turandot at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Brünnhilde Die Walküre in Naples and Brünnhilde Götterdämmerung in Leipzig.
Next season, Theorin makes anticipated returns to Staatsoper Berlin as Brünnhilde The Ring Cycle under the baton of Daniel Barenboim and to Gran Teatre del Liceu in the title role Turandot. She also appears at Dutch National Opera as Die Färberin Die Frau ohne Schatten.
Performances continue until 15 April.
Intermusica Artists star in The Metropolitan Opera’s 2019/20 season
Five Intermusica artists feature in The Metropolitan Opera’s 2019/20 season, announced last week.
Lise Davidsen will make her Metropolitan Opera debut as Lisa in Tchaikovsky The Queen of Spades from 29 November to 21 December 2019. Also making their house debuts are Joélle Harvey in the role of Pamina in Mozart The Magic Flute on selected dates from 15 December, and Angela Brower singing the role of Octavian in Strauss Der Rosenkavalier on 28 December.
Mark Wigglesworth returns to the Met to conduct Gluck Orfeo ed Euridice from 20 October. Dolora Zajick, a regular at the Met, sings Kabanicha in Janacek Káťa Kabanová opening 2 May 2020.
Dolora Zajick sings Verdi Requiem with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra
Dolora Zajick returns to Europe on 1 November 2018 to sing Verdi’s Requiem with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra, her debut with the Swedish orchestra. Hailed as a “force of nature” (Variety), Dolora Zajick has been internationally acclaimed as that rare voice type, a true dramatic Verdi mezzo-soprano, typified by the composer’s most famous and difficult mezzo-soprano roles.
Highlights of Zajick's 2018/19 season include Verdi concerts with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov at the Bolshoi Moscow and in Baden-Baden. She also returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Amneris and performs Laura Adorno in La gioconda at the Liceu in Barcelona.
Dolora Zajick makes debut as Gertrude in Hansel und Gretel in return to the Metropolitan Opera
Dolora Zajick returns to the Metropolitan Opera on 18 December 2017 to make her role debut as Gertrude in Richard Jones’ popular production of Humperdinck Hansel und Gretel. Donald Runnicles conducts a cast also featuring Lisette Oropesa as Gretel, Tara Erraught as Hansel and Gerhard Siegel as the Witch. Zajick has a long standing relationship with the Met, having performed there for more than 25 years, and recently performed in their star-studded 50th anniversary gala.
Other highlights of the 2017/2018 season include performances as Ulrica in Verdi Un ballo in maschera at the Liceu in Barcelona, and as Mamma Rosa in Cilea l’Arlesiana at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Dolora Zajick joins Intermusica for European management
We are delighted to announce European management of Dolora Zajick.
The dramatic mezzo-soprano is renowned for her interpretations of Azucena Il trovatore, Amneris Aida, and Eboli Don Carlo - roles which she has performed to critical acclaim on the world’s greatest stages.
Zajick is currently making her role debut as Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer at the Metropolitan Opera, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Recent career highlights include Azucena Il trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera and at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin; her role debut as Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw for Dallas Opera; Ulrica Un ballo in maschera for Opera di Roma; and Adalgisa Norma for New Israeli Opera. Next season Zajick performs Mother Rosa L’arlesiana at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
