Ingela Brimberg returns to the role of Brünnhilde on 17 May 2019 at Opéra National de Bordeaux. She joins the cast in a new production of Wagner Die Walküre by young German stage director Julia Burbach with musical accompaniment from the l’Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine conducted by musical director Paul Daniel.

Brimberg returns to Bordeaux having made her debut there in the title role of Strauss Elektra in May 2018. She sang her first Brünnhilde in Theater an der Wien’s Ring Cycle in the 2017/18 season to much critical acclaim:

“The Brünnhilde of Ingela Brimberg overshadows all others. In her final scene she fascinates with vocal and theatrical intensity.”
Place de l'Opéra, December 2017

Brimberg sings Brünnhilde in Die Walküre again next season at Teatro Real in Madrid. Other Wagnerian roles include a much-anticipated debut as Isolde at Oper Köln and Senta Der fliegende Holländer at Deutsche Oper Berlin. She also stars as Eva in the contemporary opera Höstsonaten by the Finnish composer Sebastian Fagerlund for Finnish National Opera, and in concert she sings her first Turandot with Orchestre national de Lille and Mahler Rückert Lieder and Wagner 'Liebestod' from Tristan und Isolde with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz.
