Monteverdi Choir

Widely considered as one of the best choirs in the world, the Monteverdi Choir was formed by Sir John Eliot Gardiner in 1964. Known for the supreme quality of its singers, many of whom have gone onto major solo careers, the choir has pioneered many major projects such as the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage in 2000 where they performed all 198 of JS Bach’s sacred cantatas in more than 60 churches around Europe; it was described as ‘one of the most ambitious musical projects of all times’ by Gramophone Magazine.
