The Rotterdam Philharmonic is one of Europe’s foremost orchestras, reaching audiences of up to 200,000 people annually. The orchestra has been led by world-class conductors including Eduard Flipse, Jean Fourney, Edo de Waart, Valery Gergiev and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. From 2018/19 season Intermusica’s own Lahav Shani will take up the baton as Principal Conductor – a much anticipated appointment – through which he will carry the orchestra into their 100th year.
Housed in the De Doelen Concert Hall, the Rotterdam Philharmonic is also the resident orchestra at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris.
Intermusica’s work with the Rotterdam Philharmonic began in 2003 with tours to Japan and across Europe in Germany, Spain, France and the UK for concerts with Gergiev. Its relationship is renewed once more from 2018 with the appointment of Lahav Shani and a focus on returns to Asia and Europe's major festivals and venues.
They will be joined by violinist Renaud Capuçon.
